At Matrix we believe in uniting and celebrating all hairdressers no matter your experience level. In 2018, we announced the Matrix Collective competition to provide the opportunity for ALL to showcase their unique colour and styling talents. Open to all hairdressers, it was free to enter and only required a smartphone photo of a model showcasing their unique look.
Entries closed in February 2019 and our judges Paul Frasca (Owner/Director of Sustainable Salons Australia and Board Member of Australian Hairdressing Council), Marie Cain (Creative Director Headstudio, Redken Artist, and WA/NT Hairdresser of the Year Finalist 2019), Sandy Chong (CEO/Board Member of Australian Hairdressing Council), and Cameron Pine (Managing Editor of InStyle) selected 5 individual finalists and 3 team finalists from each state.
Our state finals took place in across the country during March and April 2019, where finalists recreating their looks and parading their work down the catwalk at our Matrix Playground events with the state winners being announced at the end of each night.
