This year, matrix is going through the biggest brand refresh in years, creating focus around our core values in a new, fresh, and vibrant way. In our efforts to truly become the most inclusive brand in the hair industry, and in celebrating our colourful Australian community, matrix have brought on board an amazing squad of local brand ambassadors who are all trailblazers in their own right; and use their respective mediums to empower others to THINK. BELIEVE. DREAM. and DARE. – all elements synonymous with the matrix brand mantra.
These brand custodians are all reflective of matrix’s uplifting nature and will carry our brand ethos throughout the year and moving forward.

Sarah Davidson | @spoonful_of_sarah
Sarah is a lawyer turned fun-trepreneur with a focus and flare for wellness, inside and out. Since founding Matcha Maiden, Sarah has grown to use her blog, Instagram and podcast to help everyone find the ‘yay’ in their lives. This girl-boss is also a published author, with her book titled ‘Seize the Yay’ helping her readers work, rest and play their way to their #lifegoals.
Sam James | @samij_hair
Sam is the director of SJ Establishment in Adelaide and has been a member of the matrix artistic team for the last 2 years. Five-time winner of SA/TAS Hairdresser of the Year, Sam pushes the boundaries of hairdressing and is an innovative business-woman.
These thinkers encourage out-of-the-box ideas and have always found ways to inspire those around them.
The Believers
Rachael Sarra | @sar.ra__
As a contemporary Aboriginal artist from Goreng Goreng Country, Rachael uses art as a powerful tool in storytelling to educate and share Aboriginal culture and it’s evolution. Rachael’s stunning depictions of her heritage and belief system were featured in matrix’s Art of Gifting campaign released in March, and represents a voice we strive to elevate through our brand.
Sam James | @kobibokshish
Kobi has been hairdressing for over 26 years and is the director of Intershape Hair in Sydney. Kobi has been with matrix for 4 years and is the current Artistic Director for the brand. Kobi’s amazing hair artistry attests to his belief that hair is limitless. His editorial eye continues to challenge the boundaries on what is achievable in hair art and the salon industry accordingly.
Together, these believers highlight that drive, determination, and a strong sense of self can be reflected in the most beautiful and elevated art.
The Dreamers

Jess is a model, writer, content creator, presenter and certified DREAMER. She is an incredibly powerful and important voice in the conversation surrounding inclusivity and body positivity. Her experience as a seasoned journalist and model are reflected in her platform – Project WomanKIND, a vehicle for empowering and uplifting other women.

In his 18 years in the industry, 9 of which have been with matrix, Mat Johnson keeps his head in the clouds to find inspiration to some of the most iconic looks in Australian hairdressing. Mat continues to inspire by creating cutting edge looks and bold statements through his work, playing with bold colours for the most expressive, dreamy finishes in his salon MJ Hair in Adelaide.

The Daring

AJ is a pioneering digital creator and trans model using her platform to advocate, educate and celebrate for the LGBTQIA+ community as well as the half-Asian community.
Through her work, AJ remains daring by sharing her transition to empower members of her surrounding communities to follow her example in embracing their individual identities.

Tarik is the creative director of Mr.T Salon in Melbourne, and has always been bold and daring through his 25 years of experience in the salon industry. Known for his cutting edge, short styles and vibrant colour finishes, Tarik is not one to shy away from taking risks.
AJ and Tarik dare to be unapologetically unique. They highlight the inclusivity that matrix holds core to its ethos and continue to inspire those around them.
